According to the law in Malaysia, sexual harassment in the workplace is covered by the Employment Act 1955. It defines sexual harassment as;
“any unwanted conduct of a sexual nature, whether verbal, non-verbal, visual, gestural or physical, directed at a person which is offensive, humiliating or a threat to their well-being”
Identifying if you’ve been a victim of sexual harassment could be a confusing and embarrassing experience, therefore very often cases of sexual harassment are dismissed outright or left unreported. What we hope is to help visitors would be;
- How to identify what is sexual harassment in accordance to Malaysian Laws.
- What to do if you believe you or a colleague are victims of possible sexual misconduct?
